Remember that we spoke about the society of the Ancien Regimen, divided in two groups: privileged (nobility and clergy) and non-privileged (what is going to be called the third estate). So that is the situation in France in the previous years of the FRENCH REVOLUTION: meanwhile the privileged classes had a luxurious lifestyle....

In the 18th century the Bourbons promoted the creation of Royal
Factories, the purpose was to meet the demand for luxury goods. One
example is the tapestry factory of Santa Barbara, in Madrid, founded in
1720.
